Overview

Shai is an Entrepreneur and Inventor with over 15 years of rich industrial experience in the fields of Autonomous Systems & Robotics, ranging from airborne platforms to medical devices. Shai holds a B.Sc in Aerospace engineering (Summa Cum Laude, ranked 1st in class) and a Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering (direct excellence track) from the Technion – IIT. 

Shai held senior engineering positions in the aerospace sector where he led vast R&D projects and activities of UAV and Munitions systems, Flight Navigation systems (Hermes 900/450/180), AI based autonomous flight algorithms as well as Flight Testing Programs. He is the Inventor of diverse patented technologies in the fields of Rotating &

Fixed Wing Aircraft Structures, Search & Rescue Robots and disposable-robotic catheters and endoscopes. In 2021, 

Shai founded and led Metafoil, a Joint Technion - Rafael Venture which developed Morphing Aircraft Wings for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. 

In 2024 Shai founded Spinodal, a bio-convergence medical device start-up developing a soft robot for intracardiac navigation. Shai is currently leading Spinodal through pre-clinical development.
